A lost swan

A lost swan!
==========
Behold! Single in the lake,
Just a solitary Victoria park swan!
Looking all around for friends maybe?
But none to find, it just moved on!

Its webbed foot splashed way deep inside,
When it raised its wing, I thought it will fly!
But it just turned once more to see,
If it had friends to join in its glee.

It definitely is pretty late at this place,
The clouds might just burst,
Or dissolve I can't say!
I decided to exit as swiftly as I could,
Even when I did so, the swan in my mind stood!

2020

I don't know why I met you
I will never know why...
You remind of my immense blessings I survived by!
All I can say is I am posting this in the early AM you see,
Please don't throw a surprise in the PM at least! :D

I am singing... You are 2020
A year that has been,
A great leveler humanity has seen
Vaccines are thankfully on the global scene,
But we are already reimagining the world that we'll see!

No amount of thanks is ever going to be enough for all the frontline healthcare and essential workers across the globe!!

In a world where we can be anything, being kind probably trumped everything, once again!

Flowers!

Whatever your colour,
I do not care!
Your fragnance just fills the morning air!
You made the chipmunks and squirrels stop by,
Dropping their nuts and look up high!

How did you still choose to bloom?
When your death is imminent and sometime soon?
Oh sure, a terrible question it is -
But I know not the reasons of your bliss!
I do hope that I will find it sometime,
Until then, accept my goodbye!

Love(ly) (R)(r)ose

Love(ly) (R)(r)ose!
===============
What does ail thee will someone tell?
Withering from some kind of spell?
A visage of cheer you still portray,
Glowing pink still holding sway!
Missing the kisses of your favourite bee?
Or another deep and unspoke agony?
Whatever it is - only time can tell,
All I can do is to wish you well :(

Cold in a pandemic!

OH! What a bad cold it has been,
A like it of which I had never seen!
Came with a mild fever as well,
Raising fears of COVID that shot through my headl!

It struck me once in April mid,
In self-isolation, I just hid!
It appeared again on the 5th of May,
What just happened? I couldn't say!

The doctor's office wouldn't recommend a test,
Conducted only at public health's behest!
Watch your symptoms I was told,
For difficulties in breathing take hold!
Keep treating the symptoms as much as you can,
Take adequate rest - A key to get back!!

But how did I ever catch it again?
A question to which the answer became -
"There's a first time to everything.
That was April. It's now May!"

OH, it will be a good
Spring shortly,
I also have a pollen allergy!
Hoping that this will be the last,
I already had enough -
Spare me a thought!
"Well...whatever" goes my mind,
I wrote this down during a pandemic time!

Picture and Words

Picture and words
===============
"A picture is worth a thousand words" -
A saying for sure, we all have heard!
When asked to prove this using maths in mind,
Rules of trigonometry are usually kind!

Construct a square of unit length,
Measure the diagonal using ruler and tell -
The value is irrational and you will just see -
A square root of two is what it should be!

Didn't you just manage to represent a length,
Which when put into words,
has no theoretical end? 🤔

Victoria Park Chronicles

Silly young Ravi,
accustomed he's been -
To the clear trails in the park,
Even in harsh cold he's seen!

Began to wonder when at a corner he found,
A thin white veil,
Covering the ground!

No footprint he could see!
No mallards! No geese!
"Oh! what has this trail become!" - he muttered as he leaves.

Deep within himself,
he still does hold,
A truth he has simply known -
If you live in Kitchener downtown,
There is no better place to go,
For an early morning round..!!

(Dedicated to Aesop, whose Ant and the cricket inspired this one!)
